Realtime streams deliver three different events that occur in supported projects within Wikimedia Enterprise datasets. Page deletions, updates, and visibility changes.
- Page update (update) events occur when a new page is created or there is any change in content or name to existing pages.
- Page deletion (delete) events occur when a page is deleted, and thus should be removed from a mirrored dataset.
- Page visibility (visibility-change) event occurs when a page or any part of the page changes in public visibility. Those parts can include content, comments, or users and are related to a specific revision of a page. When unsafe information makes its way onto a Wikimedia site, a volunteer editor may decide to hide that information publicly. This is a very important function of the Wikimedia community to quickly remove potentially harmful content or non-public information from the projects.
